#EV Sales are Not Happening in Auto Dealer Showrooms

Over 3 months ago, in anticipation of the first big series of #ElectricalVehicle rollouts for 2021, DaiTechCorp surveyed 100 Washington Metro area dealerships. We discovered that less than 20% (18 out of 100 to be exact) rosters included salespeople who are equipped with fundamental knowledge about Electric Vehicle adoption.

I’ve been a member of the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington for about 4 years. The all-volunteer EV advocacy and enthusiasts organization has been tracking the member conversions from the EV curious, to EV purchaser. Our stats have shown the conversations current EV owners have about their experiences with potential buyers, make a huge difference in the buy or not-to-buy decision process.

The main topic the potential buyers want to discuss is “how the experienced EV driver overcame “Range Anxiety?” A usual positive response from the proven EV owner is enough to to convince the “newbies” to take the plunge.

Traditional automakers should take heed to what EVADC already knows. It’s time for their franchisees to get out of their comfort zone and be first rate EV adoption ambassadors. Authentic conversations about the driver experience will make the difference in their EV sales numbers.
