CEO Chronicles: Part 1 - NEVI is just a start

What DaiTechCEO has learned about EV Adoption since joining the EV Lifestyle is a blog series about my 6 – month experience as an Electric Vehicle owner.

NEVI is akin to seed planting for one harvest, it's will not be enough to transform US transportation

Even with all the advancements in Electric Vehicle Charging Technologies, range anxiety is still a real concern. I learned this during a well-planned and yet, nervous excursion from Washington, DC to New York City via I-95 and the New Jersey Turnpike.

Here are highlights from my experience:

1. Limited Charging Options: Owning an EV has taken a bit of the spontaneity out of hitting the open road. For me, wherever, whenever, is out the door. I like most EV owners must accept that the presence of charging stations will not be as ubiquitous as gasoline stations. I admit while hunting down a location to energize Ashanti (I name my Electric Niro) I was a bit envious of Tesla owners, who find it a bit easier to drive long distances because of the very intentional development of Elon’s Supercharger network.

Until all the charger networks are compatible for Tesla’s and non-Tesla’s all EV owners will need to spend a little more time planning our routes for charging stops. The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (aka NEVI) is not yet fully implemented, thus leaving gaps in the charging network on our Interstates and US Highways. Give it another 8 to 10 years and DaiTechCorp and other EV infrastructure firms will be giving gasoline stations a run for their money!

2. An EV trip to NYC can get expensive: My solution? During my last trip to New York City - to the Bushwick nabe in Brooklyn to be exact - Hubby and I stayed in Jersey City. We parked and powered our Ashanti safely in a well-lit and well-attended Jersey City parking garage. Then we explored NYC by way of PATH to cross the Hudson River and MTA Subway to venture into Brooklyn once we transferred at the World Trade Center. This way, we avoided the stress of hunting for a public EV charging station adjacent to the hotel and mitigated worries about the prices of New York’s notoriously expensive overnight parking garages.

Driving an electric vehicle IS a transportation and lifestyle shift. For some it’s transformative. At DaiTechCorp, we’re committed to supporting you through every mile of your EV journey.
